TYPES OF TYRES
High Pressure
In years gone by, high pressure tyres were used for both cars and trucks. Nowadays, they are only used for trucks. High pressure tyres cannot absorb road shock, deeming low pressure tyres as the more comfortable alternative for cars.
Extra Low Pressure Tyres
Often referred to as balloon tyres, extra low pressure tyres demonstrate a wider finished product. Commonly used in sandy or wet environments, they are ideally suited to racing cars.
Tyre Tread types
There are five main tyre tread designs: R1, R1W, R2, R3 and R4.
R3 and R4
- Typically known as ‘turf' and ‘industrial' tyres
- R3 tyres have a very non-aggressive pattern
- R4 is usually used for industrial and construction applications
- R3 is a good choice for golf courses
R1, R1W and R2
- Known as ‘agricultural' tyres
- Provide the best traction for field conditions
- R2 tyres are used for field work in wet conditions
- R1 tyres are best for some soil types
- R1W tyres are suitable in wet and sticky soil conditions
Basic Functions of Tractor Tyres

- Easily absorb shock
